In this week’s Ridgefield Press

On the front page of this week’s Ridgefield Press: The Class of 2018 prepares for graduation, Branchville Cemetery looks for a caretaker, and the town’s arts groups try to solve the Schlumberger land conundrum.

Here’s a look at some of the headlines from this week’s Ridgefield Press:

  • Ridgefield High School’s Class of 2018 graduates tomorrow and The Press has all the bases covered in print — and online. If you haven’t seen yet, the paper has posted this year’s award-winning graduates and the class’ top scholars.
  • And of course, there’s the grad party at the rec center. That’s 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday night into Saturday morning. A treat for graduates and volunteers alike. Read about the prizes on page 12 and the party’s history on page 6.
  • Road re-paving and other construction work is in this week’s paper. Crews on Bennetts Farm diverted traffic from that area this week as they milled, while other workers on Bailey Avenue fixed a patch from a water main break that happened in the winter.
  • Of course, graduations and road work are annual occurrences. What’s new? How about the Newcomers Club expanding to neighboring towns, or the arts groups pitching a sculpture garden on the former Schlumberger land. Will the proposal win approval over an amphitheater on the same property? Only time will tell.
  • Elsewhere in the news of the week, the cops reported two more vehicle break-ins. They are the ninth and tenth such incidents in 2018 and fit the bill of a gang out of Waterbury.
  • In happenings, children will begin hunting for Waldo again this July.
  • There’s also two new bands coming to Ballard Park for their CHIRP debuts next week.
