The 40th anniversary celebration of Meals on Wheels of Ridgefield continues on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 11 to 1 p.m. with an open house and refreshments at the Community Hall in Ballard Green (25 Gilbert Street) followed by a tour of the kitchen, which is next door.
Joyce Ligi, chair of the 40th Anniversary Committee, said, “The generosity and enthusiasm of the community during our milestone year has been phenomenal and will go a long way to help ensure that Meals on Wheels of Ridgefield is able to carry on its mission of providing nourishing meals to those needing assistance.”
A ‘giving tree,’ adorned with opportunities to contribute to Meals on Wheels, will be on display.
Since 1972, volunteers have been preparing, packaging and delivering meals to Ridgefield residents who are unable to buy provisions or cook for themselves.
Last year, clients received more than 20,000 lunches and dinners made in the kitchen in Ballard Green .
Volunteers are always needed to cook, pack and drive.
