Firefighters don pink T-shirts

The Ridgefield Professional Firefighters, Local 1739, are changing their normal blue T-shirts for pink ones. During October the firefighters will be showing their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink T-shirts while on duty.

“This year the Union wanted to support a cause that was very close to home,” Local 1739 President Drew Loya said. “Some family members have been affected by this terrible disease and we wanted to show our support for them. My sister is a 20 year survivor because of the research and progress that has been made combating this disease.”

Firefighters will be selling the shirts to raise money for the cause. For $15 people can order a shirt by stopping by Ridgefield Fire Headquarters on 6 Catoonah Street, or by calling 203-948-2881

All proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation.
