The fifth annual RHS juried exhibition at Ridgefield Guild of Artists opened with a reception on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Co-creative directors Cindi Mullins and Antonio Muñoz have chaired and juried the exhibition: “In keeping with our mission, this show is one way we honor and encourage developing artists in our community. Much of being an artist (or anything) has to do with putting one foot in front of another and ‘doing the work’— so all the students should congratulate themselves for submitting to this exhibition.”

The show opened with a reception and awards ceremony when Will Carpenter won first place for his digital painting Beauty and Julie Wang won second for her mounted photo of pen-and-ink transparency film, Flowers and Gravity.

Five students also received honorable mention: Grace Franklin, Calvin Keller, Hannah Kendrick, Maureen Maceluch, and Owen Murray.

The  shows continues through Sunday, March 13.

Gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 4.  For more information, visit rgoa.org or call 203-438-8863.
