Anyone in the mood for a pun?

The Chamber of Commerce launches its second annual “Chair-ish Ridgefield” at Summerfest next Saturday, July 20, a fundraising event for the chamber’s non-profit website DestinationRidgefield.com.

Participants can buy a pre-assembled chair at Ridgefield Hardware, decorate it and return it to the chamber as a donation for the event.

“We want this event to benefit everyone in the community,” said Marion Roth, the executive director of the Chamber of Commerce. “We believe this will show off the creativeness of our town and its people.

“It’s all about growing commerce, culture and community.”

There will be a silent auction where citizens can bid on the decorated chairs, as well as a live auction that will feature special guest Ira Joe Fisher.

The silent auction will take place throughout the day on Bailey Avenue as Summerfest provides live entertainment in front of Town Hall. The live auction starts at 3 p.m.

“Chair-ish Ridgefield and Summerfest are all under the same umbrella,” Ms. Roth explained. “All profits go to our non-profit, virtual website that attempts to bring people to our town.”

Sgt. Lefferts Phony Hearts Club Band and Wilton Steel are two of the performers who will be featured. The music starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m., when the live auction will take place.

Catoonah Street Shopping and Dining will sponsor the entertainment portion of the event.

As for kids activities, there will be an inflatable obstacle course and inflatable slides behind Town Hall.

The kids activities will be sponsored by Casey Energy, Charles Rio State Farm Insurance and Total Mortgage.

Ridgefield Supply is the event’s main sponsor along with Winter Brothers, BMW of Ridgefield, Fairfield County Bank and Mercedes Benz.

Shane Casey of Casey Energy is chairing the event.

Some chairs are already on display in front of the chamber’s office on Bailey Avenue.

The event will go from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the roads will not reopen until 5 p.m.
