The Ridgefield High girls basketball team picked a bad time to have one of its worst offensive performances of the season.
Struggling mightily to sink shots, the 14th-seeded Tigers fell to 19th-seed Fairfield Ludlowe, 37-31. in a Class LL state tournament first-round game Tuesday night at RHS.
Ridgefield ends the season with a 14-8 record.
The game was tied 23-23 entering the fourth quarter, but Ludlowe outscored the Tigers, 14-8, in the final eight minutes to get the victory.
Ridgefield led 16-11 at halftime and was ahead 23-13 with less than four minutes left in the third quarter. Ludlowe then closed the period with a 10-0 run to tie the game.
Andrea Ferrero had 14 points for the Tigers, but no other Ridgefield player had more than four points.
Freshman center Rebecca Lawrence had a strong defensive game with 13 rebounds and 11 blocks.
Caroline Pangallo scored 11 points for Ludlowe (12-9).
