The Ridgefield High girls hockey team defeated Darien, 4-1, in a state tournament quarterfinal game Monday night in Darien.
The Tigers (13-6-2 will now meet Hall/Conard (18-4) in a semifinal game Wednesday night in Darien. The winner will play either New Canaan or Simsbury in the state finals.
Monday night’s state opener was Ridgefield’s first game since a 2-1 overtime loss to Darien in the FCIAC semifinals last week. The Blue Wave tied that game with 16.5 seconds left before winning in double overtime.
During the regular season, Darien scored with 26 seconds left to earn a 2-2 tie against the Tigers.
Ridgefield goalie Heather Ogden stopped 25 of Darien’s 26 shots in Monday night’s victory.
Darien, which was coming off a 4-3 win over previously unbeaten New Canaan in the FCIAC title game, ended the season with a 15-4-2 record.
