One more chance: RHS to meet Darien in girls hockey state tourney

After squandering late leads in its past two games against Darien, the Ridgefield High girls hockey team will get another chance to make amends.

Ridgefield will face the Blue Wave in a state quarterfinal game Monday at 6 at the Darien Ice Rink, with the winner advancing to the semifinals on Wednesday in Darien.

In the teams’ most recent meeting last Wednesday in the FCIAC semifinals, Darien scored with 16.5 seconds left to tie the Tigers, 1-1. The Blue Wave then scored again in the second overtime to come away with a 2-1 victory.

In a regular-season game Feb. 15, Darien scored with 26 seconds left to earn a 2-2 tie with Ridgefield.

The Tigers enter the state tournament with a 12-6-2 record.
