William “Joe” Teagarden, 82, worked for IBM, antiques collector, active in community

Joe TeagardenWilliam J. “Joe” Teagarden, of Ridgefield, CT, passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, after a short illness.

A resident of Ridgefield since 1971, he is predeceased by his first wife, Judy, and son, Michael.

Family members who survive him are his second wife, Donna Lawrence; his daughter, Susan and her partner, Ellyn Freeman; his son, David and his wife, Bobbi and sons Joe and Julian; and son, Brian and wife, Amelia.

Joe spent his career at IBM, retiring in 1989, after which he pursued various hobbies, specifically collecting and restoring antique cars, antique clocks, and antique music boxes. He was an active member of the Music Box Society International, a past president of the Ridgefield Lions Club, a member of various town commissions, and the Ridgefield Men’s Club.

He was a highly respected member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Danbury. He will especially miss his weekly lunches at Dimitri’s with his friends, “the lunch bunch.”

A memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Danbury, 24 Clapboard Ridge, Danbury, on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 12 noon, to be followed by lunch hosted by Joe’s family. Please join us (in Joe’s words) in a “celebration of a good life”.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to UUCD, at the above address, in his memory.
