Many Ridgefield students earn college, prep honors

Seven Ridgefield residents are on the fall dean’s list at  Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, N.C.: Ryan Angi, Nicole  Ferrero, Michael Harder, Ryan  Heaney, Walker MacKenzie, Erik Nelson and Melissa Simonelli.

Lindsay Steidl was named to the dean’s list at the University of Miami. She is a senior majoring in media management and economics.

Lillian J. Smith has been named to the fall dean’s list at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. Ms. Smith, class of 2016, graduated from Ridgefield High School.

Tufts University Medford, Mass., reports three fall dean’s list students from town: Amelia Wellers, class of 2013; Kristen Lussier, class of 2013, and Claire Schupmann, class of 2015.

Teresa L. Montanari of Milford, formerly of Ridgefield, a freshman at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven is on the dean’s list. She graduated from New Canaan High School with honors.

Three Ridgefielders are on the dean’s list at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Va., for the fall: Paul Brefka, a senior whose major is integrated science and technology, Courtney Peckham a senior in interdisciplinary liberal studies, and Jeff Rohrer, a sophomore majoring in finance.

John Ethan Wilson has been named to the commandant’s distinguished service list at The Citadel, The military college of South Carolina in Charleston. Commandant’s List recognizes cadets for having made the most positive contributions to their platoon, company, battalion, or staff,  during the previous semester. Cadet Wilson, an applied physics major, was also named to the president’s list for excellence in academics and military duties.

Three Ridgefielders were named to the fall dean’s list   at Salve Regina University, Newport, R.I.: Giovanna Maiolo, a sophomore majoring in special education, Alexandra Pavain, a sophomore majoring in biology, and Kelsey Windisch a senior majoring in psychology.

Elizabeth A.Young, 2011 graduate of Ridgefield High School, has been named to the autumn dean’s list at The Ohio State University.

Three Ridgefield  students at Colgate University, Hamilton, N.Y. received the dean’s award for academic excellence for the fall term: Paula Meltser, Matthew Baker and Christopher Butler. All are members of the class of 2013 and all graduates of Ridgefield High School.

Daniel Flanagan, ’15, a history major, is on the dean’s list at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic.

Fairfield University has three Ridgefielders on its fall dean’s list: Alexandra Cavalea, Rebecca  Mucchetti, and Anthony Scheer.

The University of Rhode Island in Kingston, reports its fall dean’s list includes: Avery Jean McGinty, Brittany Eve Falcinelli, Hayden Turek, and Samantha Chelsea Lowe.

Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., says its fall dean’s list includes Colleen Moore and Joseph Scalzo. Both are members of the class of 2013.

Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, reports the fall dean’s list includes Casey McKnight,  class of 2014, a business management major, and Matthew Sedney, class of 2013, an economics major.

Christopher Bedell, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College at Florham,  Madison, N.J., has been named to the honor’s list for the fall semester.

Kiera A. Bloch has been named to second honors on the dean’s list at Clark University, Worcester, Mass. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the fall 2012 semester.

Kristina Caravelli is among the 555 students who earned dean’s list honors for the fall semester at Mount St. Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, Md. A sophomore, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Caravelli.

Katie Hajdarovic made the dean’s list at Dickinson College for the fall semester. She is a neuroscience major in her junior year and the daughter of Jerry and Margaret Hajdarovic.

Cara LaMotta made honors and dean’s list at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University, for 2012 fall semester.  She’s a member of the class of 2015.

Kaitlin Lipner was named to the dean’s list of Emory College, the undergraduate, liberal arts college of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., for the 2012 fall semester.

Adeline Nieto, a senior culture and communication   major, was named to the dean’s list in Ithaca (N.Y.) College’s School of Humanities and Sciences for the fall 2012 semester.

Jessica R. Petty, a freshman education major from Ridgefield has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.

Springfield (Mass.) College has named two Ridgefielders to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the fall term: Duncan Cozens, who is studying sports biology and Michael McKnight, criminal justice.

Two Ridgefield students have been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the University of Vermont, Burlington: Lydia M. Bates, a junior majoring in political science, and Emily L. Gutman, a junior majoring in business administration.
