Eleanor C. Teevan, executive secretary, literacy volunteer

Eleanor C. Teevan of Ridgefield, CT died on Monday February 4th. She was the daughter of James F. Teevan, Sr., and Theresa (Reilly) Teevan.

She is survived by her daughter, Regina M. Ryan, with whom she resided, and a sister, Anne T. Bardenhagen, also of Ridgefield.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Diane Levine of Wilmington, NC, James F. Teevan, III of Harrison, NY, Toni-Anne Luchansky of Wilton, CT, and Steven H. Bardenhagen of Ridgefield.

Her three brothers, James F. Teevan, Jr., Edward R. Teevan and Bernard M. Teevan predeceased her.

Educated at Villa Maria Academy in the Bronx and Grace Institute in Manhattan, she also attended Fordham University and Western Connecticut University.

For many years she was executive secretary in the New York office of Kimberly-Clark Corporation.

She was tutor and executive board member of Literacy Volunteers-Danbury  She also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Literacy Volunteers for her many years of service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday February 8, 2013 in Sacred Heart Church, Georgetown, at 10 am.  The interment  in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield, will be at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call at the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown on Thursday February 7th from 4 to 7 pm

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to Ridgefield Ambulance Fund, 6 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, CT   06877 or Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT , 405 Main Street, Danbury, CT 06810
