Sally Tallman Cornell of West Yarmouth, MA, passed away January 24, 2013. She was 82 years old.
Born to William and Anne Tallman, January 14, 1931 in Mt. Kisco, NY, she was the oldest of 5 children. She grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota and Chattanooga, Tennessee, and received her bachelor’s degree from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
A resident of Pleasantville, NY for over 30 years and Ridgefield, CT for over 15 years, she was a long time parishioner of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Pleasantville and of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Ridgefield.
Mrs. Cornell spent over 10 years as a teachers’ aide at the Pleasantville Cottage School in Pleasantville, NY.
A tireless volunteer, Mrs. Cornell dedicated her time and passion to numerous organizations including serving as a Stephen Minister.
Her love of travel and interest in people and other cultures took her on trips throughout the world.
A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, Mrs. Cornell is survived by her children, son William (Endah) of Dallas, Texas, daughters Marjorie (Gregory) Shymske of Naperville, IL, Rebecca (Thomas) Ahrensfeld of Harwich, MA and son Evan (Karen), of Ligonier, PA as well as 6 grandsons and 4 granddaughters. She is also survived by her sisters, Allison Hardwick and Susan (Kenneth) Johnson and her brother, George (Diane) Tallman.
Her parents, and her brother, John Tallman, preceded her in death.
A memorial service for Mrs. Cornell will be held at a later date.
