Trinity topples Ridgefield hoop teams

The Trinity Catholic boys and girls basketball teams both posted wins over their Ridgefield opponents on Tuesday night.

In a much anticipated matchup in Stamford, the Trinity boys easily downed Ridgefield, 68-45.

The Crusaders improved to 12-1 while the Tigers fell to 10-3.

Kurt Steidl scored 16 points but was the only Ridgefield player in double figures. Andrew Barton had eight points and Jeff Racy added seven points.

In Ridgefield, the Trinity girls team came away with a 55-51 victory over the Tigers.

Kelli Hurd’s three-pointer put Trinity ahead, 53-51, with 30 seconds to play.

Sandy Carpenter led Ridgefield with 18 points, including 11 in the third quarter. Andrea Ferrero added 10 points.

Both the Tigers and Trinity are now 10-5 overall.
