Josephine Hampton, 96, enjoyed retirement and travel

Josephine E. Hampton, 96, of Ridgefield, formerly of Bayside, NY, Danbury CT, and Englewood, FL, passed away on Jan 24, 2013, at Ridgefield Crossings.

She was born in Elmhurst, NY, Dec 8, 1916.

“Jo”, as she liked to be called, was married 62 years to her beloved Bill, who died in 2001.

Prior to moving to Florida, they lived on Candlewood Lake and loved to have their grandchildren over to enjoy the lake where they learned to swim, water ski, and sail.

Once they moved to Florida, Jo and Bill traveled extensively during their retirement and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Jo leaves her son, William, of Palm Coast, FL; her daughter, Joy Manger of Danbury, CT; and her grandchildren and their spouses Susan and David Vanden Noven, Thomas and Angela Manger, and Robert and Dianna Manger; as well as a sister, Muriel.

A memorial service will be held on Feb. 9th at 2 PM in the Ridgebury Congregational Church, 602 Ridgebury Rd., Ridgefield with Rev. John Heeckt, Pastor officiating.

Contributions in Jo’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.
