Nicholas Barberi, 70, retired East Ridge art teacher

Nicholas A. Barberi, 70, of New Fairfield, an artist and retired art instructor if the Ridgefield Public School system, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Danbury Hospital.

He is the husband of Berenice “BB” (Lennox) Barberi.

Mr. Barberi was born in Yonkers, NY, July 6, 1942, son of Nicholas and Mary (Fortuna) Barberi.  He attended Yonkers schools and graduated from Yonkers High School, received his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn and Master of Fine Art from CUNY-Lehman.

He has been an area resident since 1984 coming from Yonkers. His current work develops a direction of thought, creating images that explore forces and energies having influence on human experience.

Nick is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Berenice Barberi.

A Celebration of Life Gathering  will take place on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 1 PM to 4 PM at the East Ridge Middle School Art Gallery, 10 East Ridge Rd., Ridgefield, CT.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Nicholas A. Barberi Art Scholarship Fund, East Ridge Middle School, 10 East Ridge Rd., Ridgefield, CT 06877.

Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
