RHS boys hockey team fifth in state poll

Three wins in four days helped the Ridgefield High boys hockey team move up two spots in The New Haven Register Top 10 state poll.

The Tigers (6-3) are ranked fifth in the latest poll, which was announced Tuesday. Ridgefield was seventh in last week’s poll.

Ridgefield routed Staples, 7-1, last Wednesday and Norwalk/McMahon, 7-0, on Friday before edging St. Joseph, 6-5, in overtime Saturday night.

St. Joseph, which is also 6-3, was ranked sixth in Tuesday’s poll.

Fairfield Prep, which beat Ridgefield in the season opener, is first with 170 points and received all 17 first-place votes.

Notre Dame-West Haven is second, followed by Xavier and Darien.
