Barbara Califano Paris, 66, refinisher, caner, enjoyed bowling

Barbara J. Paris, 66, of Danbury, formerly of Ridgefield, wife of Richard W. Paris, died on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Danbury Hospital.

Mrs. Paris was born in Norwalk, April 2, 1946, daughter Joseph and Edith (Cassavechia) Califano.  She was raised in Ridgefield and attended Ridgefield schools, graduated from Amerigo Beauty School and was a waitress at the former F.W. Woolworth Store, Ridgefield, and a cashier at the former First National Store, Ridgefield.

In recent years, Mrs. Paris was associated with her husband in his building contracting company, Richard W. Paris, Inc. of Danbury.  Mrs. Paris was also a furniture refinisher and did chair caning and weaving.

A lifelong area resident, she was a member of the United State Bowling Congress (U.S.B.C.) and was a member of St. Mary Parish of Ridgefield.  She enjoyed bowling, gardening and trips to Foxwoods.

In addition to her husband of forty-nine years, she is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Paris of Danbury; a son, Richard J. Paris and his wife, Jackie, of Myrtle Beach, SC; a brother, Michael Califano of Jacksonville, FL; and two grandchildren, Amber and Drew Horvath.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 1:15 PM in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield.

Interment will take place at the direction of the family.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Danbury Hospital Development Fund for Oncology Nursing Services-11 East, 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury, CT  06810.

Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield is in charge of arrangements.
