“We are thrilled to support and be part of this great event,” said Jacqui Dowd, who owns the Ridgefield Bicycle Co. with husband Sean. “It combines a community connection, a competitive spirit and cycling, which is what we are all about.”
Registration opens at 12:01 a.m. New Year’s Day and is capped at 400 registrants. The race, at Martin Park, is on June 2, at 7 a.m., with a half-mile swim, 13-mile bike ride and 3.1-mile run.
“We’re thrilled at the level of participation in the triathlon. It’s both very competitive, drawing top athletes from the region, and fun, as many first-timers kick off their experience here,” said Ridgefield Magazine publisher Geoffrey Morris, who has been organizing the event since 2007 with race director Evan McGerald. The Ridgefield Bicycle Co. opened in 2010 at 22 Catoonah Street and will be moving its location early in 2013 to 88 Danbury Road.
