The American Legion along with the Marine Corps League and the VFW will hold a ceremony Veterans Day, Sunday Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. to honor Ridgefield’s veterans as well as all of America’s 2,600,000 veterans.
The ceremony will be conducted at the Community Center/Veterans Memorial Garden.
The featured speaker is Romeo Petroni, a Ridgefield native, Korean War veteran, lawyer, and retired Superior Court judge.
Judge Petroni, who now lives in Madison, said he is thrilled to return to Ridgefield for this occasion and hopes to see many of the townspeople and many of his friends.
The program also will include patriotic music sung by Mattie Joyner, readings and short speeches by local officials.
Afterward, refreshments will be provided by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Prial and friends. Cub Scout Pack 74 will assist in the ceremony by laying the wreath on the memorial monument.
“All are invited to attend this ceremony to say thanks to our veterans for their service,” said George Besse of the American Legion.
