RHS football team slips to 14th in playoff point rankings

Friday night’s 22-14 loss to Brien McMahon was costly for the Ridgefield High football team in the state playoff point rankings.

The Tigers fell five places, from ninth to 14, in the Class LL point rankings. The top-eight teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the state playoffs.

Ridgefield (5-2) must now win its final three games and hope teams ahead of it in the point rankings lose games. Several of those teams do play one another.

Ridgefield’s final three games are against teams (Harding, Bridgeport Central, Danbury) that have just three combined wins this season. That will limit the amount of points the Tigers can pick up with victories over those teams.
