UPDATED FRIDAY 3:20 p.m. — Because of the approaching hurricane, the following event has been canceled until further notice.
“Ridgefield has long been one of New England’s best-kept secrets and the Chamber of Commerce has been working hard to change that by marketing and expanding Ridgefield’s tourism industry,” said Chamber Director Marion Roth, announcing the launch of “Destination Ridgefield.”
Destination Ridgefield is a nonprofit group that has been formed within the Chamber of Commerce “to help give Ridgefield a unique identity and to make everyone, including residents and visitors, aware of how much our beautiful town has to offer,” Ms. Roth said.
“After more than five years of market research and planning, we are delighted to unveil Phase One: The Chamber’s Interactive State-of-the-Art ‘Visitor Center,’” she said.
This promotional website is preparing to launch to attract outsiders to the business and cultural community, complete with visitor itineraries, comprehensive shopping and restaurant listings, arts and entertainment, cultural, natural and historic attractions, and more.
A celebration kicking off the effort will take place Monday, Oct. 29, at 4:30 p.m. at the Schlumberger Auditorium, 36 Old Quarry Road.
The celebration also includes “Echoes of Sinatra,” a musical performance by Steve Kazlauskas with his own rendition of “Ridgefield, Ridgefield.”
Wine and cheese will be served.
“Don’t miss this opportunity to get involved during our pre-launch phase for special introductory rates as a retailer, restaurateur or promoter for the arts, entertainment, cultural, recreational (and more!) industry,” said Ms. Roth.
Participation is limited and pre-registration is required via www.ridgefieldchamber.org, or call directly at 203-438-5992.
